Jewels (burns)
DVD cases, digital prints, resin, artificial insects (2025)
JEWELS (BURNS), studio VIEW, 2025
Jewels draws from the aesthetic of pirated DVD covers that emerged in the 2000s on the fringes of official distribution channels. These often makeshift objects reflect a parallel circulation of images, where graphic approximation becomes a language of its own. By appropriating the visual codes of piracy, the piece condenses a series of visions of artificial intelligence as they have appeared, unstable and proliferating, through popular culture.
Using bootleg visuals sourced online, five covers were recreated and inserted between two sculptural forms, as if fossilized in an unstable memory.
